New blog title....

Did you notice the new blog title......we received the best Christmas present ever this year! Quinn's baby brother is Caden Bryan Makuley. He was born April 16, 2010. Our agency is hoping he will be home by his 1st birthday. The sooner the better! Here are some pictures of Caden.
Quinn is excited and talks about sharing his toys with Caden and teaching him things. He really likes being a big helper. I think he might be shocked at how big Caden will be. He weighs 19 lbs and is 27 inches long at 8 months. Quinn is only 23 lbs! So, "the baby" will probably be as big, if not bigger, than the big brother when he comes home!
I'll update the blog as we receive updates!

Spiderman

Quinn picked out a Spiderman costume for Halloween this year. He is such a toddler in this 2nd picture. He's growing up too fast. At least he's still the size of an 18 month old so we can still carry him everywhere!

He had his 2.5 year check up last month and is 22.8 lbs and 33.5 inches long. He's on the American growth chart for height now, in the 3rd percentile.

Football Football Football

Quinn LOVES football! He likes to watch football, play football, tackle, etc. He will run, fall down and say touchdown. Tonight I said "touchdown by Quinn Makuley" and he said "no mommy, touchdown by big Quinn". He likes to play at home and at school with his friends Braden and Kyle. He is 100% boy. He will also now say "O-H-I-O Go Bucks"! He's getting pretty good at catching the ball and likes to kick it too.

The car wash (or bubble wash as Quinn calls it) is scary so he always hides his eyes.

Quinn's singing skills have improved, but trying to get him to sit still probably won't happen until he's 12!

Summer fun

Cleaning outside toys turned into this...

Its hard to believe summer is almost over. We have had a good summer with a lot of outside and pool time. Quinn is almost 2 & 1/2. Some of his new things are:

-he knows all of his colors, not just primary colors
-he can count to 10 in english and spanish
-he is really into saying things are at home or here. Pretty much any question I ask if he did something at school he'll respond with no, he did that at home.
-he all of a sudden has a Cincinnati accent...long A's when he says that and back. So far those are the only words we have noticed this with.

We finished up our home study for adoption #2 and should be officially on the waiting list by mid-August, waiting for a referral. We should receive a referral probably between Feb. & April.

Happy 4th of July!

Waiting for the fireworks to start

People were letting off little fireworks and Quinn was really clingy and kept saying he wanted to go home.

But, then the fireworks started and he LOVED them!

We were not sure if Quinn would like fireworks or be afraid of them. We really didn't know how it would go since about 9:45 he was really clingy and kept saying he wanted to go home. But, luckily once the fireworks started he loved them.

We hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July!

Busy weekend

Although Quinn was not 100% this weekend we had a busy weekend. He either had a virus or is getting molars. If it's molars we still can't see anything so maybe it was a virus. Last night he was finally back to himself...of course at the end of the holiday weekend! We went to the Asian Festival in Columbus on Saturday and to COSI (science museum) on Sunday. The weather is finally hot here. The pool in our subdivision opens this weekend so we're looking forward to pool days on weekends this summer. Here are some recent pictures of Quinn...

A new summer favorite...corn on the cob
and, something he didn't used to like but now loves...pickles

In other news, we had our 1st home study visit today. We have separate follow-up visits next week. We will then have a final visit back at our house. The HS should be done mid-July. Then, we wait wait wait for a referral. The baby should be 5 months old at referral (S Korea allows the babies to be available for domestic adoption up to 5 months). The time frame from HS to referral is 7-9 months. The time frame from referral to baby traveling home is 5-7 months. So, baby should be 10-12 months old at the time he or she comes home. I'll keep the blog updated with baby #2 updates!

Still dancin'...even in the car

Quinn still LOVES to dance, even in the car!

Something new...

One of Quinn's many new things is getting out of the car by himself. He also will no longer sit in a booster seat. We also recently moved him into another bedroom and into a full size bed...after he no longer wanted to sleep in his room in the toddler bed. He's such a big boy now (in mind, not in size!).

In other news, we finished our adoptiong paperwork and are now awaiting scheduling from our social worker for our homestudy appointments. Timeframe until baby comes home should be approx. 16-18 months....total guestimate from what we have heard so far. Maybe it won't be that long or maybe longer. We'll probably have a better idea once the homestudy is done. When asked if he wants a baby sister or baby brother Quinn always says "baby broder". We'll see!

Checking out the big waves

Quinn at Ripley's Acquarium. He liked it but had to hand on to daddy's hand when he saw the sharks...the sharks were a little scary!

Petting the stingrays

Quinn playing bucket head

We are in Myrtle Beach for vacation and it has been great. It was an 11.5 hour drive but Quinn did pretty good considering he was in a carseat the entire time. The last few hours he was pretty done with being in the car but overall did good. He loves the beach and has no fear of the water. He also likes to play in the sand. The weather has been good and only rained on Monday, which is when we decided to go to the acquarium. Today we were out in the water and Quinn kept saying "here comes another one" at each wave. He loves it! More pics to follow!

Bike ride

Daddy taught Quinn to do this. I said this is dangerous, he's going to fall & get hurt, he needs a helmet, etc. Adam says it's fine, he's a boy.

Easter egg hunt

Our neighborhood had an Easter egg hunt on Saturday. Quinn was all about it. He kept saying eggs in basket. Once he realized there was candy inside the eggs he was much more excited!

Daycare boo boo

Quinn busted his lip at daycare today....
but a boo boo doesn't ever slow him down...

Quinn is really getting this talking thing down. He's saying short sentences now which has been fun to hear new words and new sayings. This morning on the way to daycare he said "my friend Braden". I then asked who his other friends were and he said "Kyle and monster truck". I think monster truck (monsta twuck) is in every other sentence. He LOVES monster trucks.
In other news we are almost finished with the adoption paperwork for baby #2. Once we send the paperwork in we will have our home study scheduled. Then, we wait. I'll keep the blog updated with our adoption news!

Happy 2nd Birthday Quinn!

Quinn turns 2 on March 4th but we had his Birthday party today. He, of course, made out pretty well in the present department. I think he consumed more sugar today than he ever has but I guess that's allowed since it was his party! It's hard to believe he's already 2 years old!
